Great South Gate (Horyu-ji Temple Western Precinct)

Eight pillared gate of the national treasure which is the entrance hall of Horyu-ji Temple, and it was rebuilt in 1438 (Eikyo 10) of the Muromachi period. The roof is gabled and hipped tile-roofing. The profound and calm figure is fit in the row of pine trees of the approach to a shrine called Matsu no baba and it makes a solemn atmosphere.
