Hakodate Magistrate’s Office

It is Hakodate Magistrate’s Office that the Edo Shogunate built for the purpose of the north defense being based for the last years of the Edo Shogunate era. It was installed in the Hakodate foot of a mountain (current Motomachi Park) at first, but was transferred to this ground because the danger made for attacking it from an enemy occurred. It is Goryokaku on this occasion to have been made to follow a city magistrate's office. It is the Meiji era and is dismantled and it was vacant land for a long time afterwards, but restores a precious historic spot called Goryokaku in 2010 for the purpose of telling coming ages. The history of Goryokaku is introduced in a building.
