Byakurochi(Enkaku-ji Temple)

The site of Kita-mon gate and Minami-mon gate left for the south side of a certain Kamakura Highway in the front of a wicket in Kita-Kamakura Station shows former times before the Yokosuka Line opening. When you cross the highway, a gentle stone stairway continues and can see Byakurochi covered by clump of trees. When founder of Enkaku-ji Temple Bukko Kokushi entered Kamakura, it is the place where he was led to by a divine spirit of the Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu Shrine which made an incarnation to a white heron. When across the bridge built over the Byakurochi and you pass the track of Yokosuka Line, there is somon gate. This is the local life route that a worshiper rarely passes, but it is interesting to walk while remembering the precincts at the time.
