Sarobetsu Wild Flower Garden

The Sarobetsu plain was appointed in the "Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park" along with the Rishiri Island and Rebun Island in 1974. Marshland spreads through the very large area and many rare flowers, plants and wild animals grow and inhabit. Sarobetsu moorland center in the Wild Flower Garden introduces about wild flowers through video and signboards. The promenade which you can walk through the moorland in approximately 20 minutes is established, you can admire the plants closely. Daylily and Andromeda polifolia flowers are in full glory from June to July. Skunk cabbages begin to bloom along with the snow-thawing season in early spring, and the plants which are withering in the late autumn about October bathes in sun light and shines in gold.

It is ten minutes by Engan Bus bound for Wakasakanai from JR Toyotomi Station. It is immediate on foot from the Sarobetsu moor center bus stop.

Sarobetsu moor center: Open everyday from May to October. Closed on Mondays form November to April (in the case of a holiday the next day)
