Sapporo Clock Tower

The official name is former drill hall for the Sapporo Agricultural College. It was built based on a figure of design of the Sapporo Agricultural College (predecessor of Hokkaido University) the second vice-principal in 1878 (Meiji 11), and a clock tower was attached three years later. The structure of the roof truss that the building does not have a ceiling. An introduction of history of the Sapporo Agricultural College and graduate Inazo Nitobe, the document of the pendulum-type clock machine are displayed. This clock tower was appointed to the important cultural property of the country in 1970. The large clock continues still ticking away time with a pendulum type exactly.
