五稜郭
The feature of Goryokaku is that star-shaped, five forts stick out in first Japanese Western style castle walls. It spended seven years from 1857 (Ansei 4) and was constructed, and it is known even that it was a battlefield of the Battle of Hakodate. These outskirts are opened as the park which is full of green, and there is "the Hakodate Magistrate’s Office" restored in the center now.
